Homelessness is one of the most complex challenges facing Hawaiʻi today.
While many organizations discuss solutions, Viktor Mazeliah and Tall Builders chose to become actively involved in creating one.
Working alongside community leaders, housing advocates, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations, Tall Builders participated in the development of a homeless village on the West Side of Oʻahu consisting of 87 housing units designed to provide safe and dignified living spaces for residents transitioning out of homelessness.
More than construction
The project represented far more than construction. The goal was to create a community where individuals and families could regain stability, security, and hope.
To support the initiative, NABS and Tall Builders donated the first housing unit to help launch the project and demonstrate their commitment to investing directly in solutions rather than simply discussing them.
The homes utilize advanced prefab steel-frame construction technology that offers exceptional durability, energy efficiency, and long-term sustainability. The structures are resistant to termites, mold, and fire while providing comfortable living environments designed specifically for Hawaiʻi’s climate.
Housing as transformation
For Viktor Mazeliah, the project reflects a belief that housing should be viewed as an opportunity for transformation.
“A safe home creates the foundation for everything else in life. When people have stability, they can focus on work, family, education, and rebuilding their future.”
The success of the West Oʻahu project has reinforced Tall Builders’ commitment to supporting innovative housing solutions that address the needs of Hawaiʻi’s communities.
As the company continues to grow, so does its dedication to projects that combine construction expertise with meaningful social impact.
For Tall Builders, the greatest achievement is not the number of buildings completed. It is the number of lives positively affected through those projects.
